Essex Park First Annual Putting in the Park

 

Beverly, MA, Jan 26, 2012 –Who says you can’t golf in the middle of the winter? Essex Park Rehabilitation and Nursing held what will now be known as the First Annual “Putting In The Park” Indoor Charity Golf Tournament. More than 20 teams of four turned out to Essex Park to play golf INSIDE. Thanks to Metro Mini Links there were 18 modular golf holes set up throughout the building. The Home Depot of Salem kindly staged the course with complimentary greenery. Each team of four played for the charity of their choice. The charities ranged from The Alzheimer’s Association to Northeast Animal Shelter. “Hole in one!” could be heard throughout Essex Park as teams moved from hole to hole in an effort to outplay their colleagues. Amongst the teams playing at the event included Don Armellfrom Fidelco Guide Dog Group and his team of Fidelco Supporters including Guide Dog Shubert.

The evening included an intense charity competition with a raffle for Red Sox tickets donated by Beverly’s own Mayor Bill Scanlon. The lucky winner of those tickets wasLeslie  of Lyons Ambulance. A $300 Putt For Cash competition won by Peter Murfitt who donated his winnings to the winning charity and a 50/50 raffle won by Holly Gomes of Northeast Regional Ambulance who donated her winnings to Beverly Bootstraps. The overall winning team donated proceeds to Northeast Animal Shelter in the amount of $2000.00. An additional $500 was donated by the winning team to the Fidelco Guide Dog Group.

Overall the event was a huge success, a lot of fun and many happy professionals looking forward to another tournament on the “greens” next year. Thank you to all of the wonderful sponsors who were instrumental in making this a success!
